Faculty Positions in Endocrinology

Rutgers University School of Environmental and Biological Sciences announces a hiring initiative for three tenure track faculty in Endocrinology.

These three new positions in the Department of Animal Sciences will enhance a vibrant program in endocrinology that contributes to a university-wide initiative in food, nutrition, and health. These hires are expected to provide an enhanced focus on the impact of genes and the environment on endocrine physiology. Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, epigenetics and endocrinology, metabolic endocrine disorders, and discovery of novel biomarkers for endocrine diseases.

The new faculty hires are expected to complement ongoing programs, which include:

  • Neuroendocrinology
  • Mammary and reproductive tissue growth and remodeling
  • Effects of environmental endocrine disruptors on reproductive physiology
  • Pre- and postnatal developmental programming
  • In utero effects of alcohol on the stress axis and cancer
  • Immune disorders and cancer susceptibility
  • Nutraceuticals and endocrine health
  • Endocrine physiology of bone

These new faculty will have the opportunity to collaborate with Rutgers faculty in a number of departmental units and research centers, and institutes, including the Biotechnology Center for Agriculture and the Environment, the Equine Science Center, the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute. In addition, the new hires can participate in joint endocrine-related initiatives at Rutgers and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

The successful candidates are expected to develop vigorous, externally funded research programs. They will contribute to undergraduate instruction in the Animal Sciences, Biochemistry, and/or Biotechnology curricula and participate in the Graduate Program in Endocrinology and Animal Biosciences. Candidates must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in an appropriate discipline and relevant postdoctoral experience. Applications at the Assistant Professor level are sought, but appointment at a higher rank will be considered for qualified candidates.
